Hi, I’m Liz Thigpen.

I’m an artist, illustrator and designer based in Scituate, MA. I studied Painting and Graphic Design at Boston University and spent most of my career working in advertising and design around Boston before finding my way back to making art full time. These days, I work out of a small converted barn, making art inspired by coastal New England and the everyday things I love about living here. My work is rooted in simple shapes, bold color and playful composition — with a soft spot for animals, a little imperfection and not taking things too seriously. My background in both fine art and graphic design tends to find its way into everything I make. Along with Sun Hee Studios, I take on commissions and select illustration, graphic design and creative direction projects. I also launched an apparel brand,  The Checkered Lobster When I’m not working on my own pieces, I’m usually painting, experimenting with something new, or finding another creative project to get into.
